Holiday season in Miami starts earlier than the calendar says. One week it is still beach weather, the next you have a Friendsgiving, two office parties, a family photo, and a New Year’s Eve dinner on the books. If you want your skin looking rested and smooth for all of it, now is the moment to book your Tox appointment.
“Tox” is the shorthand our patients use for neuromodulators, the injectables that soften expression lines. At AMMA we offer three of them: Botox, Dysport, and Daxxify. They are all FDA-approved, all excellent, and all $14 per unit. The question we hear most is simple: which one should I choose? Here is how we explain the differences, plus a timeline so you are camera-ready before the first invitation arrives.

Same goal, three different personalities
All three products are botulinum toxin type A. They work the same basic way: they relax the specific muscles that crease your skin when you frown, raise your brows, or squint, so the lines on the surface soften. None of them adds volume, and none of them should freeze your face when placed well.
Where they differ is in their formula, how they spread once injected, and how they feel to the people who use them. Think of them less as better and worse, and more as three tools your injector can match to your face, your muscles, and your schedule.
Botox: the classic
Botox is the name everyone knows, and for good reason. It has the longest track record of any neuromodulator in aesthetics, with decades of research behind it. It stays very precisely where it is placed, which makes it a favorite for detailed work like frown lines, crow’s feet, and a subtle brow lift. If you have had Botox before and loved your result, there is no reason to change what works.
Dysport: soft and smooth over larger areas
Dysport has a slightly different molecular makeup that lets it spread a little more softly across the muscle. That makes it a beautiful choice for broader areas like the forehead, where a smooth, even result matters. Many patients also notice it settling in a bit quickly, often within two to three days. Some of our patients simply prefer how Dysport feels on their face, and that is a perfectly good reason to choose it.
Daxxify: the newest option
Daxxify (daxibotulinumtoxinA) was approved by the FDA in 2022. Its formula is different from the others: instead of being stabilized with human albumin, it uses a proprietary peptide, which makes it an albumin-free option. In clinical trials for frown lines, results lasted around six months on average, so it suits people who like the idea of fewer appointments per year. Many trial participants also saw softening within one to two days.

One detail that surprises people: units are not interchangeable between brands. Ten units of one product is not the same as ten units of another, so your dose will look different on paper if you switch. Your injector will always confirm your unit count, and your total, before starting. So which one is right for you?
Honestly, there is no wrong answer here, and you do not have to decide alone. During your visit we look at a few things:
- Your history. If you already have a brand you love, we usually stick with it.
- The areas you want to treat. Precise spots and broad areas can call for different products, and some patients do best with a mix.
- Your muscle strength. Stronger muscles may need a different dose or product.
- Your calendar. If you travel a lot or prefer fewer appointments, Daxxify may fit your lifestyle. If you like a regular touch-up rhythm, Botox or Dysport are wonderful.
- Your preferences. Some patients want an albumin-free formula, some want the most established product, and both are valid.
Because all three are the same $14 per unit at AMMA, price does not have to drive the decision. You can choose based purely on what suits your face.
Your holiday Tox timeline
Here is the part that matters most right now. No matter which brand you choose, a neuromodulator needs time to settle in. Results build over several days and look their best at about two weeks. That window also leaves room for any tiny bruise to fade before you are in front of a camera. Working backward from the big dates:
- Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 26): book by about November 12.
- Holiday parties in early December: book by mid-November.
- Christmas Eve and Christmas Day: book by about December 10.
- New Year’s Eve: book by about December 17.
If you have several events, the simplest move is one appointment in late October or early November, so you are settled and smooth before the season gets busy. December appointment slots fill fast in Miami, so earlier really is easier.

Safety and aftercare, whatever you choose
All three products have similar, usually mild side effects: a little redness or tenderness at the injection sites, occasional headache, and, uncommonly, temporary eyelid or brow heaviness that resolves on its own. Neuromodulators are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for people with certain neuromuscular conditions, so please tell us about your health history at your visit. Each product is FDA-approved for specific areas, and treating other areas is a common off-label practice we will walk you through.
Aftercare is the same for all three: stay upright for a few hours, skip hard workouts for the rest of the day, and avoid rubbing or pressing on the treated area. Our aftercare guide has the full list. You can also read more on our Botox in Miami page or browse the full injectables menu.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Botox, Dysport, and Daxxify?
All three are FDA-approved neuromodulators that soften expression lines. Botox has the longest track record and very precise placement, Dysport spreads a little more softly for larger areas like the forehead, and Daxxify is the newest option with a peptide-based, albumin-free formula designed for longer-lasting results.
How much do Botox, Dysport, and Daxxify cost at AMMA?
All three are $14 per unit at AMMA in Miami. Units are not interchangeable between brands, so your injector will confirm your unit count and total before your treatment.
When should I get Tox before the holidays?
Book at least two weeks before your event. For Thanksgiving, that means around November 12. For Christmas, around December 10. For New Year’s Eve, around December 17. One appointment in late October or early November covers most of the season.
Can I switch brands?
Yes. Many patients try a different product once their last treatment starts to soften. Your injector will recalculate the dose for the new brand rather than copying your previous number.
Is there downtime?
No real downtime. Most people go right back to work or errands. Avoid hard workouts, lying flat, and rubbing the area for the rest of the day.
The holidays are coming whether we are ready or not. Make your Tox appointment now and we will help you choose the right brand for your face. If injectables are part of your routine, our memberships are worth a look too.
